Listed below are the many options to get to GweGwe Beach Lodge.

  • The most convenient and preferred way to get to Mkambati Reserve is on our scenic seat-in-plane flight from Durban Virginia Airport to GweGwe twice weekly (Monday and Friday). The scenic flight follows the coast line south from Durban for 45 mins.
  • Our scenic seat-in-helicopter flight from Margate to GweGwe is ideal for guests connecting in and out of Johannesburg. This seat in helicopter flight takes 20 minutes and connects with CemAir’s late morning flight to/from Johannesburg and any early morning arrival flight and/or late afternoon departure flight from Durban’s King Shaka Airport (Both options require a road transfer to get from Durban to Margate).
  • For those adventurous in spirit there is an option of a 75-minute boat trip from Port Edward, available on a private charter basis for up to 6 guests per boat
  • A chauffeur drive option from either Durban’s King Shaka airport or Margate airport to GweGwe
  • Guests can self-drive to the lodge.
  • Private helicopter charters from either Durban, Margate or East London.
  • Private air charter flights from Durban, East London, Port Elizabeth / Gqeberha, Phinda, Kwandwe and Johannesburg direct to Mkambati’s 1050 m long private airfield. The aircraft that can land includes Pilatus PC12, KingAir, Cessna Caravan, 402 and 210 as well as Beechcraft Baron.
